Daniel and the Fiery Furnace brings one of the Bible’s most powerful stories of courage, faith and conviction to the big screen, arriving in theatres September 18. The epic live-action biblical drama stars Canadian actor Mena Massoud (Aladdin) as Daniel and Elijah Alexander, known to millions of viewers as Atticus in the hit series The Chosen, as King Nebuchadnezzar.
Set against the backdrop of Israel’s exile in Babylon, the film follows Daniel as he rises within a powerful and unforgiving empire. When King Nebuchadnezzar issues a decree demanding absolute worship under penalty of death, Daniel’s friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego face an impossible choice: bow before the king’s image or remain faithful to God and be cast into a blazing furnace. In the face of impossible odds, their unwavering faith leads to a miracle.
The film also has strong Canadian roots. In addition to Massoud, Daniel and the Fiery Furnace is written and directed by award-winning Canadian filmmakers Matthew and Daniel Kooman, known as the Kooman Brothers. Massoud also serves as a producer on the film.
With themes of courage, conviction and standing firm in faith despite overwhelming pressure, Daniel and the Fiery Furnace brings this timeless biblical account to life for a new generation — and invites audiences to experience the scale and wonder of the story together on the big screen.
